Mentoring Better Data Management Practices in Research Environments Online
In many research environments, data management skills are learned informally—through workplace culture, mentorship, and peer support rather than formal coursework. This one-hour workshop is designed for graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and faculty who mentor others and influence research practices in their groups. Participants will explore quick, practical strategies to support and guide others in developing strong data management habits. Through discussion and real-world examples, attendees will identify actionable steps to improve informal data training in their own research settings.

My name is Breanna Caruso (they/them), the Research Data Stewardship Specialist at OHSU.
I received my PhD from OHSU in 2023 and then conducted my postdoctoral training at OHSU as well. I joined the OHSU library team in 2024 and I am excited to leverage my in-depth knowledge about the research process and the data life cycle to help researchers at OHSU manage their data well!
